About Our Chapter

Origins and the Path
We Helped Open
Today, we are proud to be a chapter that truly represents multiple hunting methods. Our members enjoy the widely accepted use of bows, crossbows, muzzleloaders, and long guns. But it was not always that way.
Even into the early 2000s, bowhunters often struggled to find support from outfitters and hunting organizations. Many outfitters did not fully understand the needs of bowhunting and were reluctant to make changes to their operations. Out of that environment, SCI’s Mid-Atlantic Chapter was formed in 2008.
Around the same time, a broader push began within SCI to elevate and promote bowhunting. That momentum, combined with major advances in bowhunting equipment and the growth of outdoor shows that helped bring those tools to market, started to change perceptions across the hunting world.
We are proud to have supported bowhunting early, and even more proud to see it firmly established today as a respected and lasting part of the mainstream hunting community.
GIVING BACK
Where Our Heart Is
We have been fortunate to be in a position where we can give to many worthwhile organizations whose projects and good works depend on donations like ours. These gifts are made possible by you and your participation with our chapter and our annual fundraiser/banquet.
SCI Foundation is at the heart of our giving program. SCI Foundation is a leader in funding and directing worldwide programs dedicated to wildlife conservation and outdoor education, ensuring that the best available science is used in wildlife management and demonstrating the constructive role that hunting plays around the world. SCI Foundation backs our chapter’s projects with their Matching Grant Program. Through our combined efforts, many local and global wildlife conservation, education and humanitarian projects are supported.
